TFA says: Macs are general purpose computers.<p>No, they aren&#x27;t, and they are getting less general all the time. Go to apple.com, and click on the page for any of their MacOS systems. The only use of the word &quot;computer&quot; that you will find is in the literally fine print at the end of a page. Running console applications with recent MacOS versions is getting extremely frustrating, due to security enhancements. It&#x27;s supposed to be a Unix system, and yet running Python requires more security tweaks. And I had to install Python3, only Python2 was included in the OS. I was unpleasantly surprised to discover that the included version of rsync was ancient. And then there was that whole application signing thing.<p>No, MacOS is rapidly becoming a closed box, as has occurred with Mac hardware.
