I know it's an anecdote, but can think of why women may avoid EVs. In families, the moms tend to drive the children (the old "mom's taxi" cliche). There aren't a lot EVs that can carry 2+ kids, their stuff and you can make a mess in without feeling you lost $40k of value.<p>Second is the charging. Gas is plentiful and easy to obtain quickly. Again, if you have kids you can't wait too long to replenish the power cell in your vehicle if you have a schedule to keep. There is also the issue of safety in recharging. I know a woman who owns an EV and she has said she avoids certain charging options because she doesn't feel safe waiting for an extended period of time. That limits the range of travel if you only depend on certain charing stations.
