Some good friends of mine just launched an open beta of their upcoming software project, called Jamwerks Lola, that makes it easy to collaborate with other musicians over the internet. It's also fantastic for group audio calls. While latency can still be an issue, this is much better than the experience I get with Zoom and my drum instructor.
