I feel like I’ve seen this come up on HN few times over the years, but is there a similar site to HN for medicine?<p>If not, why not? I check HN nearly daily and as someone in medicine, it would be incredibly useful
I haven't found a good site. Some thoughts why: I'm busy, and technically minded. Most in the biomedical community are busy; far fewer are technically minded, and many more of my colleagues prefer the company of their wives and children to reading random nerdy things on the internet. Twitter is beloved, in part because it's short and episodic, and if the bleep goes off you can leave it behind without a great loss. Many colleagues do read Reddit, etc, but tend to explicitly avoid anything on-topic that isn't either provided by a learned body or a paper.
It occurs to me that when someone asks "Is there a Hacker News for X," the best solution you're going to find is "Hacker News."<p>Alternatively, you might find an appropriate forum on Stack Exchange.<p><a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stack_Exchange" rel="nofollow">https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stack_Exchange</a><p><a href="https://stackexchange.com/sites#" rel="nofollow">https://stackexchange.com/sites#</a>
