Your problem with Vim is that you don’t grok vi

I sure learned a ton from this book on vi disguised as a StackOverflow answer.

I don't use Vim because I can never remember the command I need. Maybe Vim could add some sort of hierarchical navigation reminder that is visible on the screen but took up minimal space when not being used.

I thought I was reading an article before I saw the URL. Very informative.
