Ask HN: Are magic links suitable for all age groups?

3 pointsby joriswabout 4 years ago
When picking which authentication method(s) to offer as part of your service (a SaaS for example), did you take age groups (or other factors of digital comprehension) into account?
Has it shaped your choice of whether or not to offer magic links (one time passwords) as opposed to password authentication?
Would you offer magic links as part of a service that is mainly targeted at ages 50 and over?

Somebody who is 50 now might have 20+ experience with "check your email to verify your email address". I wouldn't be worried.
In 2002 I went to a school near Norwich NY which trained our draft horse and trained me to drive and in the mornings we met at a cafe which always had a table full of old ladies who were talking about Netscape, AOL, whatever. People like that were really into the internet BACK THEN!
