I thought this was an interesting discussion on Reddit and thought I&#x27;d ask it here.<p>What are your 90% &#x2F; 50% &#x2F; 10% confident predictions for the programming industry in 2021 and upward?

90% confident programming languages will change to be more type safe, I&#x27;m going to say this is going to be where FP is now by about 2030.<p>50% chance of a new OOP language that incorporates a stronger type system to solve the problems of Java.<p>Rust has been why I&#x27;ve come to develop this opinion, going back to C code after Rust was difficult. Going back to python after some Haskell was also difficult. Type systems are an underrated productivity tool&#x2F;feature.

By 2030:<p>90% more advanced type systems<p>50% IDEs, github, and slack will merge into one monolithic social developer experience<p>10% end user programming using NLP
