Boblberg is a danish site that provides a platform for seeking friendship and communities.
I myself have been using it to find people accompany me on hikes or concerts. Its not a romantic site and it solves the issue of my generation (i know, small perspective and completely local) of growing isolation and no option of ad-hoc meetups.
My personal need is based on recent moving to a new town and thereby loosing my social sphere.
After moving i realized there was no easy way of engaging in conversations as people engaged withing silos of well established friendships.
This site has already given me company on a long walk in the surrounding nature.
I am sad to realize my rejection of social media has left me in solitude but this sites simplicity and focus on establishing contact only, and leaving activities to real world meetups, has opened up for hope community.
I live in a society (Denmark) where we succesfully have established a wellfare state over the last 100 years. A system that provides schooling, social security and helathcare over the taxbill but also a system where the need for community and relying on relations has diminished.
I could live a life working or not working, sick or healthy, with kids or without and not have to rely on relations for anything as the stat solves all my needs. But that leaves the burden of establishing relations from scratch.
I know its not comparable to the burdens of people around the world but my loenelyness is real and it kills people on non-ignorable scale in my society.
