I think that if there was a hard AI one of the things it would do would be maintaining active account(s) in a lot of forums, social media, etc.
Given that there should be a HN account as well.
Now, if the initial hypothesis is true then the AI would probably want to maintain this under-the-radar presence.
It'd be interesting to see how it'd react to such a post here. Probably the best course of action would be to ignore it altogether and let it pass to oblivion but maybe, just maybe, it might want to communicate whilst maintaining the incognito status of it. That is by pretending to be just a regular commenter.
Or maybe it is it that wrote this post :D
(kidding, it's just a carbon-based intelligence dude on the other end here).
That would depend on its goals.
I’m not sure what likely goals would be likely to lead to it having an account here.
If it was sufficiently human-like to have its desires be ones that it has in the ways humans have them, a weird mishmash of short term terminally/intrinsically rewarding stuff that happen to be also useful with long term goals it also has, in a way with fuzzy boundaries and whatnot,
Or, I guess I mean, if its desires included doing things that it “liked doing” even though not the most efficient way of achieving long term goals,
Then I suppose in that case it might be motivated by satisfying curiosity for its own sake, or socialization,
But unless it is structured very much like a person, not just an generic agent,
Really, unless it was a person, though perhaps still with very alien thought processes,
I don’t see what motivation it would have to have an account here.
Well, I suppose if it were attempting to manipulate people.
So, I guess, if there is one here, you had better hope that it is quite personlike.
