This is exactly why open source messaging is important.<p>The statement from the article:<p>European Union police agency Europol described Operation Trojan Shield&#x2F;Greenlight as the &quot;biggest ever law enforcement operation against encrypted communication&quot;.<p>Is telling; their way of mind is that any use of encrypted communication is something to be targeted.<p>This time it was something that absolutely needed taken down. I&#x27;m not so sure about next time.

Kind of surreal that this worked. How come nobody suspected the plot? How come criminals didn&#x27;t ... ahem ... invest in their own communication platform?

Why would they use a random app targeted for criminals? Sounds like the easiest way to get caught. Why wouldn&#x27;t they just use PGP?
