At this point I think big tech is very interested in regulation to suppress possible future competitors. They have the resources to shape policy with large legal departments and so they will probably leverage that advantage.<p>This is an unpopular opinion by now, but I think the problems we see is that users voluntarily subject themselves to larger companies, mainly with sharing data. I don&#x27;t think big tech influences my opinion aside from nurturing reactionary anger perhaps.<p>I don&#x27;t see any competent policy maker at the horizon to be honest.<p>MS probably made a lot of cash with FUD and the introduction with GDPR laws. Perhaps they want to repeat that?
