Yeah SuperMemo is more of a long term lifestyle choice verses a single tool, but I personally think it’s the most effective brain augmentation software that we have as a species right now, it’s not very complicated or heavy in terms of the program itself and it doesn’t require invasive surgery or something. I’ve been on the SuperMemo train for 15 years and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner.
I see notes as a permanent "brain extension" to support superior performance over the long term, not as a "hack" to study for a test.<p>9 months ago I got a "free" inkjet printer and realized it wasn't worth buying ink for it if I printed something every six months because it would just dry out. So I challenged myself to print something (artistic) every day, started going to stores that are "going out of business" so I could buy the cash registers to get the thermal printers, etc.<p>A simple print has about 20 steps involved in its creation, installation, etc. If I get 3 of those wrong and 17 right I notice the difference, even if other people don't. I am always feeding back my experience into my practice (I thought 3M double-sided tape was the bee's knees until it got humid and my prints started pulling off the walls)<p>So I can get consistently good results without wearing myself out I've written myself a book with step-by-step instructions.
