Isn't there an misspelling in the official country name in this article? They copied from Guardian, I suppose, since they provide the reference link and Guardian has it wrong too. Or at least it seems wrong to me.
Quoting the article:
> Қазақстан Республикасы, will henceforth be rendered Qazaqstan Respy’blikasy.
But cyrilic "у" suppose to be latin "u". So it should be "Respu’blikasy". Wikipedia [1] seems to agree, too, according to table from January 2021.
[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakh_alphabets#Latin_script

What a stupid rationale! So, they are not really using the Latin alphabet - just like with the Cyrillic, as they have their own letters. And, no, in times when Cyrillic alphabet is widely supported, their points are pretty lame. Maybe 20+ years ago it was tough to have Cyrillic fonts and keyboards, but in 2021, they are supported by virtually all operating systems, including mobile, so, I don't buy it, not at all.

As a Kazakh American I was waiting for this. Since my parents are from Xinjiang they only spoke Kazakh to me and never wrote it. I found the Cyrillic alphabet too hard to read!
