Ask HN: Mental health providers for remote teams

4 pointsby gajusalmost 4 years ago
We are a remote first organization. I want to extend an opportunity for everyone in our organization to have access to therapy. I think that this will increase overall health, happiness and productivity of everyone in our team. What are some providers that we can engage to make therapy available for everyone in our remote team?

Every insurance company is allowing tele-health therapy right now. I believe in order to provide therapy, the therapist must be credentialed in the state the employee lives in. I believe you can check psychology.com to find out what insurance is taken by therapists in each state. Tele-therapy seems to be working well and I hear that at least some insurance companies are working to provide therapy in house (like the Kaiser Permanente model for doctors). Our company works with ComPsych and they seem great. I have never used it, but watched a few presentations on some mental health topics earlier through the pandemic. They also offer other resources for employees like legal help, finance, etc.
https://www.compsych.com/

How about just take that same time value and give them the equivalent time off work? That will do a lot more for their mental health than “therapy.”
