Indian startups scramble for tech talent as salaries rise across the board

It's been great. The scene is flush with money and companies are willing to go well beyond the "standard" 30% bump when you switch. I do disagree about the $70k figure for 2-3 years of experience - that's nowhere near what I've seen for that range unless you're talking about the literal top tier of talent. Eg. Swiggy - our version of Grubhub - has a median pay of INR 3.2mn for the SDE II level [1], which is where 2-3 years of exp will generally get you. 3.2mn is more like $40k. Don't get me wrong - $40k/y is loads of money in India, even in an expensive city - but it sure isn't $70k. On that page you can see the broad salary band for comparable startups which are all in the same ballpark. Maybe there's people out there earning that kind of money, but it's certainly not the norm outside of sectors like Finance.
1: https://www.glassdoor.co.in/Salary/Swiggy-Software-Developme...
