Cities have the worst urban heat, where temperatures can spike 15 degrees

The original title means something completely different from the title used here. CNN is listing a few cities where this happens. OP you’re saying that cities have the worst urban heat (which is kind of obvious because of the urban word) but also you’re stating that all cities can spike 15 degrees. What was the reasoning behind changing the title?

Removing the clickbaity "These" from the start of the headline just makes it less clear.
And it's burying the lede anyway, which is that the worst urban heat islands aren't always where you expect. Lots of names you expect, but I wouldn't have thought New Orleans to be #1. Or Erie, Pennsylvania to be in the top 20. Los Angeles isn't on the list at all.

I wonder if our climate change predictions account for heat island effects of ever growing metropolitan regions

So, if I understand correctly, this is not an actual measurement of urban heat, but rather is the prediction of a model which takes as input different types of land cover in the cities?
It sort of seems like they should just measure the temperatures directly.

I find that the worst heat tends to be in the business districts, where there is often literally zero foliage or other sun cover.

On the bright side think of the rainy winters.
