Honestly, if the legislators today had been around back when right to repair for automotive industry was proposed, we would have to buy Chevy and Ford tires/oil/filters every time you went to do any service on a vehicle.<p>I will say that there is complexity when it comes down to “what is repairable”, but we really need to get our shit together and reduce ewaste. So, maybe we need to actually have a conversation about having these monolithic PCBs or shit like epoxied in batteries and unrepairable/unserviceable products. IMHO, many of these practices are very harmful to the consumer and when you consider most major brands are doing it, it doesn’t give consumers an option or choice if they want to use most modern devices.
