I know of a few software products that got a growth boost after a successful launch on PH. I know I have to find someone who will "hunt" my product in order to launch there.
I am not a PH user. Should I start using it regularly in order to be successful there?
If I set a goal to launch 3 months out, what could I do to build up to a successful PH launch?
Getting on Product Hunt isn’t very valuable as a launch vehicle for most products. The exceptions are products targeted at people who read Product Hunt, such as product design and self-promotion tools. Unless you’re very positive that Product Hunt viewers are your core target audience, be careful about putting too much weight into Product Hunt.
If you still want to get on Product Hunt, you really need to work your way into the inner circle of someone who can help. Product Hunt wants users to believe they can organically work their way into these positions of influence in the site, but unless you have huge amounts of time to invest in Product Hunt it’s not likely. I know many product managers who invested way too much time in Product Hunt with hopes of gaining some clout, only to give up once they realized it was a huge time investment for little or no return.
