This is thinly veiled bullshit. The total federal budget income for 2021 is expected at $355 billion. Expenditures are north of $600 billion.
This proposal want to spend an extra $869 billion dollars per year, raising expenditures to 1.4 Trillion per year in a country of 37.8 million people.
This is a total expenditure of $37,000 per many woman and child in the country.
That would bring a deficit of $1 trillion dollars per year to a country with a gdp of $2 trillion.
Now, as for funding it, let's be clear, it WONT BE FUNDED! No matter what the article says.
The authors want to increase total federal tax income by almost 250% with the snap of the fingers.
This spells total disaster, and for what? To sleep better knowing that 5% of the country will be lifted out of poverty.
Sorry, get the hell out of my country with this crap. Go destroy another country.
The most successful countries in the world are NOT the places to try these schemes.
With 90+% of the population doing pretty well, the downside is MASSIVE, and the upside is minimal.
Take this kind of scheme to a place where the downside is minimal and the upside is large.
Unless of course it can't actually fund itself lol.
