I spent most of the weekend writing a super-detailed tutorial on how to create a map using hachures in QGIS. The hachures are created using SRTM elevation data, geometry generators, and there is also a section on how to style them dynamically using the new interpolated lines feature in QGIS 3.20.<p>Do let me know if you find it useful and want to see more like this as it took a lot of time and energy to create — it'll help me justify spending time to create more.
This is great. QGIS has to be one of the best pieces of OSS that I've ever encountered. Sure it has a steep learning curve, but it has so much flexibility. Chloropleths/USDOT data/USGS data and LeafletJS are where I've spent most of my time, but seeing how to create topographic maps is always worth a read.
