That&#x27;s nice to read. I&#x27;d like to see more dog control everywhere. You shouldn&#x27;t be allowed to bring your pet hiking or to the beach. It&#x27;s not fair to actual nature. Even if your animal is well-behaved, its scent alone can prevent native species from getting around as they should.<p>I&#x27;m not a hater--I&#x27;ve owned dogs all my life, but the current culture of bringing them everywhere (off leash!) is ridiculous.

Much of the problem in NZ is abandoned dogs, and dogs left to roam, cats likewise, and many other vertebrate pests. Plus we have no native land mammals.
