It just seems to me that the natural state of many LiIon chemistries (LiCoO2 in particular) is &quot;on fire&quot; and if you treat them <i>very</i> nicely and actively manage them, you can prevent them from getting to that state most of the time.<p>[edit]<p>Read the article more closely and the Bolt batteries are suspected to be NMC, which is apparently more prone to fire than CoO2?

This does not inspire confidence in the idea of making the batteries part of the car&#x27;s structure.
