Russia, Iran and China to hold joint drills in Gulf

Note, that's the Persian Gulf. I initially thought it a bold move to do a joint exercise in the Gulf of Mexico.

Naive, but would love to hear from whoever is more knowledgeable if this is more an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type situation, or these nations are building warm, long term relationships?

I am glad that the captains of our ship of state have decided to pick a fight with most of Asia.
