I _strongly_ disagree with this article. Emissions aren't the only factor at play here. If everyone on the planet ate local (by "local" I mean within 40 miles of where you live), large agricultural businesses would go out of business. Food supply chains would diminish to almost nothing. Meat consumption would probably go down. Local farmers are more likely to care for the land than large agricultural businesses, so soil quality could increase. Farms would grow more of a variety of foods which would be better for the soil and the people. The food would be generally healthier. Everyone could know their farmers, and how the farmers treat the land, the animals, and the people. People could choose to buy food from farmers that do these things the best. This would increase competition among farmers to treat the land, animals, and people better. Etc etc.
