I am working as a data scientist on a financial institusion for more than five years, and here is a thing that make me scratch my head. Are we in a bubble in widely understand AI task? I observe tendency of implementing AI solution whenever it is possible but I did not see for a very long time how much benefit does it gave. What do you think, from you perspective, it is a thing? Imo, estimation of additive value should be the very first thing that is done before ever think about implementation.
In my field (cinema/theatrical analytics), the value of AI/ML/Data Science is quite easy to calculate as we mainly use models that produce results that are then checked by human experts. To produce the same amount of output of just a single model, we would need 10x headcount.<p>I do agree though that an estimation of the value of AI work should be the first step in a project - often it's better to ask "why do we need this" even before asking "can this be done?".
