You know how in 1776 the US declared independence from the UK? Well ARM China has recently declared independence from ARM. The board fired the CEO more than a year ago, but the CEO said no thanks, hired security to keep ARM out, and has been continuing to run the company with the ostensible support of its employees and the state.
Like, what??
I guess legality and ownership and IP and rights are all just social fictions in our heads, and if enough people stop believing, they stop being real. It's like the reverse of The Secret.
For those who think IP rights should be abolished, this is what such a world might look like. Allen Wu and China have stolen ARM's IP.
Edit: I spoke to a journalist who spoke to ARM and was told that some of Devin Patel's reporting was incorrect. ARM China has not stolen IP.
