OP here. I scraped the components of CPI from the Bureau of Labor Statistics website and built a chart to go along with it. I thought starting everything at 0% and charting cumulative inflation was an interesting visualization, as it helps to demonstrate compounding effects and why certain sectors have seen massive price increases.<p>Aside from obvious points of interests like housing and medical care, check out "Used cars and trucks" and the noticeable spike caused by the pandemic.
