Didn’t have a choice. When we signed up, we didn’t know what would be available where. Our biggest fight was trying to find a place that would give us an appointment at all.
Through a tip from a friend, we found a place nearby that had been in the phase 1a period for a while, and had not done any vaccinations recently — no one in that group wanted them, at least not from that provider. So, they moved on to phase 1b, and we were able to quickly get an appointment with them.
A couple of days later, the whole vaccination process became much more centralized, and we would never have been able to get vaccinated as early as we did. But, they grandfathered everyone who’d already gotten their first shots, so we were okay.
We ended up with Moderna.
Pfizer. They simply sent me an SMS telling with the dates of the 2 doses and the vaccine they were going to use.
I could've have rejected it and asked for another one, but as a 30 year old I was okay with either Pfizer or Moderna.
The first one was ok, it only hurt a bit if I touched where they injected it. The second dose was worse. The next morning carrying my 1.5kg laptop on a backpack felt like 10 times heavier. Then headaches and a bit of fever. I woke like nothing happened the next morning.
J&J, but not by deliberate choice. I just went into the pharmacy to get a prescription filled, and they said, "Hey, we've got this extra dose, do you want it?"
J&J has the virtue of only taking one shot instead of two. So that probably is the one I would have preferred anyway, because getting shot is, um, not my favorite activity.
Moderna, it was the fastest available in NYC and I was turned down for the Pfizer vaccine (even though I had an underlying condition) because some pharmacist in Manhattan said I "looked to young and healthy".
I didn't feel anything on the first dose, second dose gave me insane dreams and night sweats.
I didn’t get a choice (this was back in April) and got Pfizer. I do recall hearing at the time that the J&J vaccine had a 60% efficacy rate, whereas the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were in the 90s. I don’t know if that understand is still true.
There are some suggestions that Moderna might be longer lasting than Pfizer due to a larger payload and the 4 week delay (vs 3 weeks) for the second dose. They're all better than invermectin.
You guys were getting options?
I was looking for vaccine madly to be opened up for my age group in India, I had to go with the first available option which is CovieShield.
not a lot of data out there on comparison of brands, I did run across this one:
https://imgur.com/yMA3Wsg
would you recommend throwing darts?
