It seems the new code of conduct is worded in a more positive manner, encouraging good behavior instead of a list of things that will get you kicked out. I like it.<p>The hugs thing specifically also calls out “virtual backrubs”, which is quite creepy. This may be an example of behavior that a project member had to deal with in the past.

I have not heard the full backstory, nor run `diff $OldCoC $NewCoC` - but banning virtual hugs sounds to me a policy written by somebody who is <i>far</i> too deep in the daily drama and weeds to be writing policy. (And is no parent, either. &#x27;Most any 5-year-old would need about 5 seconds to figure out a new way to push another kid&#x27;s buttons, without virtual hugs.)

I&#x27;m curious of what was the original reasoning behind banning virtual hugs in the first place. It sounds too specific to have been done arbitrarily. I wonder if a specific incident somewhat related to hugs happened on an old thread that caused the whole thing to get banned.
