Ask HN: Am I the Only One?

6 pointsby devlifeover 3 years ago
I am feeling more and more frustrated with the way things are done these days. I find project management done using JIRA to be a complete drag on productivity, creativity and quality. The entire way of working seems like an assembly line and the daily answer to "are we there yet?" is highly counter productive.

Project management tools are not intrinsically evil. It is the managements that abuse those tools that are the problem. Often the same people who set the budget and deadline before the project/product was even properly scoped.

I wouldn&#x27;t mind it if it were high level and devs were given time to work. Let Jira be the master list of requirements. Annoying, but necessary.<p>The problem is the daily standup&#x2F;daily metronome.

It&#x27;s more about how you use More and run startups. They are not bad in their own right, and if done well, enhance development and productivity for teams
