This isn&#x27;t even close to my field, so please excuse what may be an ignorant question, but is this sort of patent usual in pharma? It seems as though the patent is claiming an extremely broad class of therapies (anti-aging) on an extremely broad set of compounds (several existing antibiotics and every conceivable derivative or related compound).<p>To me (as a software developer) this looks like the pharma equivalent of an overly broad business-method patent that is waiting for someone else to do the necessary R&amp;D in order to cash in. Am I missing something?

How do these compare to the isothiocyanate molecules in broccoli sprouts and mustard seeds such as Sulforaphane and Myrosinase?
