Ask HN: Oldest Code Still in Production

3 pointsby 41209over 3 years ago
Hi HN
What's the oldest code you've ever seen in production, as in it's still running.
I'm imagining a very cheesey Netflix movie where our protagonist has to fix some code her late grandfather wrote. And in fixing this code she's able to connect with him.

Fortran/assembly code dating from the 1960s, running electrical power distribution and commercial billing for a federal agency. That was in 1999-2000. As far as I know that system is still running today.
