I feel some negative undertones there, like his support for Trump was driven purely by monetary gain.
This seems like a disingenuous take, Thiel was always a conservative/libertarian even back in his Stanford days, rebelling against pseudo-liberal, pseudo-intellectual mob culture in college which even then didn't take lightly to dissenting voices and tried to suppress opposition with the same bullying tactics they use now (only now it spread beyond academia).
Supporting Trump was entirely consistent with his life-long principles, as supporting someone who stands against this mob.
