The west is the ultimate emperor without clothes. 80 years of muh human rights and Nie Wieder and erecting countless institutions and artworks in its spirit, but when push really comes to shove, it's all revealed to be a Potemkin village of grifters and cowards scurrying away and howling along with the party line.<p>I can't think of a single mainstream institution which has spoken out against the atrocities going on in Australia. The media are deliberately silent on the matter. Don't expect anyone but a few lonesome, throttled Twitter accounts to stand up for you when you're rounded up. The future is very dark and you're on your own from here on out.
Of course it does, it violates many things (the right to medical treatment without coertion, anybody?). I am doubly vaccinated for COVID and have been getting flu jabs yearly. I'm as far away from anti-vaccine as one can be. But the fact of the matter is that people are too afraid of COVID (<a href="https://www.brookings.edu/research/how-misinformation-is-distorting-covid-policies-and-behaviors/" rel="nofollow">https://www.brookings.edu/research/how-misinformation-is-dis...</a>) because of the media (for example overestimate the risk of getting hospitalized by the factor of x5), and in that anxious state don't think rationally.<p>There is also an additional factor, which is - people are tired of the pandemic and getting angry at the unvaccinated allows them to vent. It's also really good for politicians because they can redirect the anger from themselves to a fraction of the population.
