I see many articles like this one talking about how cheap these machines are to run and how they must be a no brainer. But It’s not that simple. How many dishes can it make? You have to pay a programmer to add more. What if it breaks down? Highly paid tech needs to come and fix it.<p>I think until these machines become commodities level cheap, and equivalent to perhaps a colour laser printer in terms of ease of use, it will simply make more sense for restaurants to continue to use low paid or underpaid workers and just deal with the employee churn that comes with that.<p>On the other hand, I can definitely see a place for robotic food vending machines in todays world. In places where the customer level is not high enough to justify having a full restaurant or pop up with people, a 24h food vending machine with fresh pasta would be great.
