This article doesn’t quite outline the specific measures Apple implemented, but am I the only one who’s not necessarily against the measures themselves?
I’m against Apple not allowing repair shops access to the tools, but with that being said I like the fact that I don’t have to worry about whether or not the newly installed display has a Face ID module that’s been tampered with.
I can imagine someone creating a display with a modified Face ID module that has a back door or some such thing. Without calibration/certification of the module, how would I know if that’s the case after a 3rd party repair?
I’m not sure about the whole thing, tbh, just thinking aloud.
