Ask HN: Has anyone had memory problems with their M1 Mac?

2 pointsby siegbennover 3 years ago
I bought an M1 MacBook Air last November and it has been just okay. It's a super fast machine, but occasionally I experience mouse lag / graphics tearing. The Apple store techs diagnosed this as a trackpad issue (and have replaced it twice). But, I think it's a memory issue, as it only happens when my device is swapping a lot of memory; it goes away when I turn swapping off.
Has anyone else experienced issues like this?

I get mouse stuttering on my Mac Mini if I'm using my computer incorrectly and I'm doing way too many things way too stupidly. I don't have a touchpad I don't even have an apple input device I just have a Bluetooth Logitech k830. But the stutter is system wide it's not just the mouse. If you're watching a video or if you're doing anything you could plainly see that Mac OS loses its ability to be real time for a little bit. But this happens to me very very rarely and I do use my Mac Mini all day everyday because it's my TV's computer and that's where I watch everything.
Edit: it's the cheapest model that came out at launch with the lowest memory and the smallest drive.
