Apple brings MagSafe 3 to the new MacBook Pro

I like the ability to connect my laptop to my monitor with a single USB-C cable and charge off that. I wouldn't mind having both options - MagSafe in my bedroom, USB-C at my desk.

Can the new magsafe carry data too? That'd make it handy for docking stations since it looks like the other end is USB-C

I wonder is Apple already decided to reintroduce MagSafe for MacBook when they named iPhone's magnet MagSafe.
