Ask HN: Why do managers feel pride in saying that they are not technical?

This is not something new, but lately I have observed this behavior to be the in-thing with certain roles.

I've never witnessed this.
I _have_ worked with many managers who were not technical, and readily said as much, and often had a lot of domain knowledge, and that's what they were on the project for -- in addition to being the resident do-nothings -- which is now my job. :-D
Climb the ladder, do less, get paid more -- god i love america.

Some folks like being forcibly restrained as a matter of course, though it wouldn’t be my first choice.

It lets them off the hook for future questions and work.
