I remember companies giving out CDs at trade shows all the way up to the mid 2000s. There were even cool branded CDs with funky corporate logos on them. Many of them were the websites with flashy flash animations that would take ages to download on the web but be instantly available from a CD. In the early days it did - kind of.. Think of Microsoft Encarta and the Encyclopedia Britannica CD.
