Building a quality USB-C microphone

TL; DW -- the hobbyist was able to make a mic for $30 that arguably competes with an $800 mic setup.

Never heard of THAT Corporation and their preamps, can someone give context and how they compare to preamps from the usual suspects (AD, TI, LT, ST, etc.)?<p>edit: fixed opamps to preamps
