This is postulating cultural breakage is in some part due to the latest round of high achievers being detached and not paying attention to the community at large. Its an American right of passage "I got mine".
I'd say its more influenced by political media being turned into a team sport to compete with entertainment. Why do people fall for this and turn a blind eye to hypocrisy of their chosen team? Why do people need to be attached to a group? Why is the group more important then their supposed values?
Most of this supposed culture war will doom human endeavors for the complete futility of winning something that doesn't matter. I suppose the new dark ages are needed if humanity must cling to the group even when its idiotic.

this was fun. thanks. bourbours versus bobos. ok yeah.
i do think the situation here is real. the vocabulary, definitions are crucial, very powerful.
and yeah i agree. i do think bobos have failed to ascertain & use their power. i do think they are the ascendant power, and havent figured it out. but the know-nothing bourbours are totally off the hook, are deeply legitimized, bidded on again and again in this article. and the bobos are hung, just executed as shits, for not knowing how to fix it all. after 20 years of legislative stalemate where democrats have never ever ever had power. so this article.is mostly subterfuge, a neg, a dig, on the progressives, for failing, without recognizing how hard doing anything ever has been. and a total pass for the bourbours. but the ideas, the conceptions- those are good. thanks for that.
