Factories like a controlled atmosphere and temperature. That&#x27;ll be a challenge.<p>Also industrial activity benefits from heat conduction e.g. the ground, atmosphere and water to carry away waste heat, smoke, particle etc. Even gravity is an assist in sorting the work from the chaff (machining chips, turnings from a lathe etc). In &#x27;space&#x27; all that will have to be replaced somehow. Hard to replace gravity.<p>We&#x27;re a dozen major innovations away from doing anything at scale in &#x27;space&#x27; whatever that is (the surface of the Moon? hard vaccuum in zero gravity? an enclosed habitat?)
