How do you effectively search the internet and steer clear of spammy SEO conent?

I've found DuckDuckGo results feel less spammy than the ones from Google. However, I still find I have to use Google when DDG doesn't return anything useful; this is often for programming-related searches.

put " reddit" behind queries lol. " hacker news" works too.<p>Yeah, but in all seriousness, that's what I do and the results quality has gone surprisingly up.
