It's unfortunate that we human beings are still controlled by our ancient instincts. Our lives are modern now, but our basic motivators and judgment criteria are rooted deep in our brain.<p>"Women finding tattooed men healthier and better at parenting" is similar to "men finding women with big breasts and hips better at procreating". Both are rooted in the evolutionary processes that drive us to reproduce as many copies of us as possible. Huge industries depend on this central core of our behavior (fashion and modeling, porn, etc.) We may not be always aware of it consciously, but these basic motives within us shape almost everything we do. Our whole life story basically is to reproduce, and evolution guides us to find the best match who will generate good results (children). This is why a beautiful girl on the street catches our attention even when we're not thinking about reproducing at the moment. Sure, there are errors in our judgment about the "best" match, but evolution corrects those in aggregate.<p>I've many times repeated this: F#$k evolution. It's the reason we often can't have a nice conversation with an attractive person without constantly thinking about sleeping with them, and it's the reason we spend so much of our time and energy (both finite) on porn and soft-porn (tik tok, instagram, etc.)
Somewhat off topic: I imagine someone here could design a printer that a person could stand in or lay down in and use Henna to make temporary but very artistic and detailed tattoos on ones self to test these theories. This could be a way for people to test out ideas without making a permanent and painful mistake. Henna tattoos will last about 2 weeks or so before starting to fade. Alternatively there are people you can pay to have them drawn on you by hand.
My knee jerk reaction to tattoos is "Here's a grown-up person with drawings on them." and I find it really hard to look past that as something immature and childish.
