Ask HN: Did you get the Zoom class action notice?

6 pointsby levinbover 3 years ago
Last week I got a court-authorized notice about a Zoom class action based on 3rd party data sharing. I pay for the healthcare compliant enterprise version of Zoom.
Anyone here know anything about this? Should we accept joining the class for the suit? Is there more information about the case?
The allegations section is copied here: "(i) shared certain information with third parties, (ii) should have done more to prevent unwanted meeting disruptions by third parties, (iii) advertised its Zoom Meetings App as being encrypted “end-to-end” when Plaintiffs contend it was not at that time, and (iv) that the alleged conduct violated California state and federal laws. Zoom denies these allegations. The Court has not decided who is right."
ZoomMeetingsClassAction.com

Service is as good as the money you paid for it. Most people I know are happy to use a free Zoom service.
If that service wasn't as good as they wanted, did they do sufficient 'due diligence' beforehand? Was the service fraudulently held out to be more secure than it was? Was Zoom negligent?
So many questions before a class action is justified.
