I Youtubed higher order functions: 6th result

I&#x27;m more surprised someone would try to use YouTube to learn about higher order functions.<p>I learn this lesson every few weeks. Yesterday I tried to dive into something technical. I searched for info on the latest research on education methodology. The top video was just some guy listing things out that seem like &quot;common sense&quot; teacher &quot;wisdom&quot; without context or reference. Not one mention of mastery learning, assessments, tutoring sigma, deliberate practice...<p>YouTube is lowest common denominator content, that&#x27;s why they removed downvotes. The less signal of quality, the better for them. Just like how Netflix removed star ratings.

But if you want to learn how to fix something on your lawnmower or car or around the house, youtube is absolutely the best place. If you want advanced math topics, usually wikipedia is on point. For programming questions, stack overflow. Different communities on different platforms...

Clickbait is the price you pay for using a free service. I guess the YT algo decided that video would either interest or infuriate you, causing you to do more &quot;engagement&quot; and make the numbers get big for the shareholders...
