Ask HN: Is there any value in having your own podcast “show”?

5 pointsby stereoradoncover 3 years ago
I am debating myself about: Who wants to hear me versus who wants to read what I write? Any value addition in the process? Is discovery of podcast dependent on the algorithms? Is it the new gold-rush for attention starved people? Is adding voice going to be data-extractive? Your thoughts please.

As an experiment create a video but also create a sound file from it and a transcript so that people can choose whether they want to listen to you or see you or just read what you have to say and see how well each method takes off. That would be real numbers vs. vocal opinions. Also HN are mostly readers so the opinions will be skewed in that direction here vs. if you also asked on a video-centric platform.

I prefer text because text is much easier to annotate and make sense of. Audio, unless it is a lecture, I think is mostly a waste of time.
