So now companies are going to try to capitalize the pendulum swinging and get an egde on hiring by being un-woke? This is stupid. I just don't want my employer to police my thoughts and political beliefs unless they get in the way of me doing my job. The whole diversity thing was supposed to be about not making "different" workmates feel othered out, but the forces of polarization take it to the extreme and make good people feel othered out because of that.
If I think positive discrimination is good for society I can't say that on Citadel? They don't care if I'm black or white or whatever but they do care about my ideas? I'll pass, thanks.
In principle, "don't be a jerk" and "respect is earned" are opposites. Either one isn't a jerk, thus respects all people by default, or believes that others aren't respect-worthy unless proven the contrary.
Also, why would open source software derive in a "technolibertarian culture"? That doesn't make any sense. The concept of "copyleft" itself is about renouncing certain individual rights over software, to allow it to spread in the community.
