The biggest question is &quot;Why?.&quot;<p>AFAIK very few cargo planes have ever been shot down by a MANPADS IR-homing missile.<p>I still remember this Airbus A300 out of Iraq that got hit by one and lost all hydraulics but still managed to land safely.

I would be interested to know what insurers are thinking about flights over places like Iran, Afghanistan, and Ukraine right now.
